Face to Face assignment

The assignment today called for our class to reflect on what we watched, read, and tested on. Today I feel as if the basic concept of everything was racial profiling and discrimination. Today we were in a way tested on four concepts on racial preferences and discrimination the first is personal reflection of race, the second WWII Asian discrimination, the third 9/11 Muslim racial profiling, and African American Discrimination. Personally I liked the lesson and learned a lot about discrimination, and how times were then.

Unfortunately I would like to think times have changed since the 19th century, but it appears that every time something bad happens to America we are quick to blame some race. The most recent event was 9/11 and we started to question and blame Muslims in America. Which brings me back to racial profiling.  Multiple of them were targeted and questioned on their beliefs, and other relations.

Don’t get me wrong America is personally one of, if the not the best country to live. With all it has to offer, and all the freedoms we are given. It’s just are we actually that free? Any race that has been discriminated against would probably beg to differ. I will admit we have seemed to take a large leap forward from what times used to be like. We now have an African American President, whenever African Americans used to not even be allowed to share the same water fountain.
